CLP members gathered at Two Harbors High School on Wednesday evening, April 17, 2024, for the annual membership meeting. A record-breaking 263 members attended the meeting.
The evening began with a delicious sloppy joe dinner served by the Two Harbors Lions Club,entertainment by the Two Harbors Ukulele Band, and bingo games played in the auditorium. The Two Harbors High School Girls Softball Team entertained the kids with open gym activities during the meeting.
The meeting began with the American Legion Post 109 Honor Guard presenting the colors, and Caroline Selvog sang the national anthem.
An election was held for District #3 and District #4 Directors. Incumbent District #3 Director Kyle Weideman won the election with 94 votes over candidate Geoff Tolley, who had 36 votes. Incumbent District #4 Director Steve Josephson ran unopposed.
Operation Round-Up Board Member Jim Graham handed out checks totaling $19,050 to the Spring Operation Round-Up grant recipients.
The 2023 Washington Youth Tour Delegates Aili Gishia and Alex Stone shared their photos and experiences of the trip.
A presentation by Davey Resource Group, CLP’s contracted Utility Vegetation Management Consultant, highlighted CLP’s integrated vegetation management (IVM) approach.
CEO Janorschke reported on CLP’s 2023 rate adjustment, the new Time of Use rate, IVM, redistricting, and pending by-law changes in 2025. He also updated the IIJA and USDA New Era grant applications and introduced CLP’s newest employees, Evan Sandretsky and Brandi Berquist.
One question was submitted for member questions. The question was from Pam Johnson of District 3. She asked, “Do you have any plans to offer energy audits for members?” CEO Janorschke answered the question, stating that CLP is in the process of hiring an Energy Services/Master Electrician. Once that position is filled, CLP will review the process to be certified as an Energy Auditor, and CLP intends to provide that service to our members in the future.
Door prize drawings were held after the meeting.
